Jacqueline Toboni was born and raised in San Francisco. After being cut from her high school basketball team, her mom encouraged her to audition for the prestigious American Conservatory Theater and once accepted she was hooked. She became a theater major at the University of Michigan and spent her summers as an apprentice at the renowned Williamstown Theatre Festival, as well as The Movement Theatre in New York and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London.
Toboni met Grimm co-creator Jim Kouf when he came to the university to speak. He had been trying to cast the role of “Trubel” for some time and could not find the right actress. As an acting exercise he had the students read the character sides and soon Toboni found herself testing for NBC execs. She booked the role of “Trubel” before even graduating from college. Two years later the complicated, prickly character has become a fan favorite of the show.
Since moving to Los Angeles, Toboni has starred in the indie films The Last Room and Liked, produced by Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted). On the television side, she continues her role on Grimm and has guest starred in TNT’s Major Crimes, as well as having a starring role in Easy, indie auteur Joe Swanberg’s anthology for Netflix alongside Dave Franco and Malin Akerman currently airing.
