Matthew Helms began as a martial artist at the age of 3 and for 15 years became a multiple regional champion in many states with numerous titles, gold medals, and Black Belt Hall of Fame in his system and a Sensi for 10 years. At age 9 he was a guest on the “Tonight Show with Jay Leno” in 1998 breaking bricks, Jay’s watch, and broke a newly written health book in half. After graduating stunt and acting classes, he began his career in 1999 appearing in small budget films then stepping on the screen in “The Patriot” in 2000. Continuing in commercials and onto the movie “The Black Knight” in 2001. His next role would be the crazy, pancake loving, high kicking Dennis in “Cabin Fever” in 2002.
Matthew continued to act and model for years as he then successfully translated his love of dance, theater, & martial arts expertise into a new venture. In October of 2006, he began intensive training in ballet where he received multiple scholarships to perfecting his skill and has for the last 20 years. Matthew has become a professional ballet dancer where he performs as the lead principal dancer in classical ballet, contemporary, and modern dance. Throughout his career he has had the honor to work with some of the best dancers and choreographers from companies such as American Ballet Theater, Royal Ballet, National Ballet of Canada, and the Joffrey Ballet to name a few.
Matthew continues his pursuit of artistic freedom and expression whether on the big screen, on the grand stage, or in the studios. He continues his career touring all over the States and internationally as a lead dancer and teacher of the arts and expression.
