Jake Weary will next be seen in Netflix’s series The Waterfront alongside Holt McCallany, Maria Bello,
Melissa Benoist, and Danielle Campbell. Inspired by true events, the story follows the flawed Buckley
family as their attempts to retain control of their crumbling North Carolina fishing empire drive them to
increasingly dangerous means to keep themselves afloat. Weary plays Cane Buckley, who has a complicated relationship with his father (McCallany) but never stops trying to do the right thing by his dad and can’t seem to say no to him. Married to Peyton (Campbell) and the father of a young daughter, Cane likes the money his family business affords him, a Band-Aid for the life he got instead of the life he wanted. The series will globally debut on Netflix on June 19, 2025.
Weary will also be seen in Christian Nilsson’s Westhampton with Finn Wittrock, RJ Mitte, Amy Forsyth,
Tovah Feldshuh, and Dan Lauria. Years after leaving Westhampton, Long Island to chase his dream as a
filmmaker, a damaged director (Wittrock) returns to the hometown that inspired his breakout film — where he’s forced to confront buried secrets, broken relationships, and the past he tried to rewrite. The film is set to have its World Premiere at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival.
Last year, Weary was seen in Paul Schrader’s Oh, Canada alongside Richard Gere and Jacob Elordi.
The film premiered at the 2024 Cannes, Toronto International and New York Film Festivals. Weary was
also seen in Mouly Surya’s action thriller Trigger Warning opposite Jessica Alba and Mark Webber. When
a special forces commando Parker (Alba) returns to her hometown after her father’s sudden death, she
runs into a violent gang when she starts asking questions. Weary plays Elvis, Parker’s hot-tempered brother who is a volatile and dangerous figure, engaging in illegal activities, including dealing military-
grade weapons to domestic terrorists on the dark web.
In 2022, Weary wrapped the sixth and final season of his reprised role in the critically acclaimed TNT
crime drama series Animal Kingdom with Finn Cole, Shawn Hatosy, Ben Robson. Weary plays Daren
Cody, the youngest son of Janine “Smurf” Cody (Ellen Barkin) and the sharp-witted “baby” of the
criminally minded family. Deran has a chip on his shoulder from always having to prove himself among
his brothers. Despite his attempts to create a life for himself outside of the family, he always get reeled
back in.
Other work includes roles in films such as Mark Steven Johnson’s Finding Steven McQueen; Andrés
Muschietti’s It Chapter Two; Fabrice Du Welz’s Message from the King; Juanita Wilson’s thriller Tomato
Red; and David Robert Mitchell’s horror sensation, It Follows. On television, Weary’s previous credits
